Welcome to St Margaret Clitherow Primary School and Nursery where
‘We live to love, learn and respect and follow Jesus who says, ‘Love one another as I have loved you.’
It is a great pleasure to welcome you to our school through this website and I hope that you will find it both helpful and interesting. We encourage everyone to have high aspirations and work in partnership with one another so that each child feels valued and is successful. From Nursery/Primary to Secondary school, we would like our children to be successful individuals who contribute to the community. We expect children to develop and show a sense of responsibility and self-discipline whether alone or together at work or at play. We actively promote the common good and British values (democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs) to prepare our pupils for life in modern day Britain.
We have high expectations of good behaviour based on the teachings of Jesus Christ through the Gospels and on mutual respect and consideration for our fellow human beings.
We want the children’s time at St Margaret Clitherow’s School to be happy and successful so that when they leave us they will do so happily and confidently as well adjusted young people, growing in the love of Christ with positive attitudes to work and to other people, and ready to face the challenges of an ever widening and changing community.
As a Catholic school we take great pride in our mission statement:
‘We live to love, learn and respect and follow Jesus who says, ‘Love one another as I have loved you.’
This is encapsulated in the learning environment that we have created and are always striving to enhance.
We are all proud of our school and our pupils enjoy their learning in a caring atmosphere where they feel safe and secure. We are committed to working closely with our families and parish not only to provide the very best for our children’s learning, but to also help our young people make sense of their faith and their relationships with God and each other. We aim to ensure that all teaching and learning within the curriculum is Christ - centred.
We believe in a broad and balanced curriculum where all subjects are valued. It will equip our children with a breadth of knowledge. It will excite their imaginations, inspire and ensure high standards whilst meeting national requirements and relate to our setting. It will give them the foundations of developing healthy minds and healthy bodies. It will enable learners to have a value of themselves within the school, the local and wider community and the world beyond; knowing the positive impact they can make.
